'The Roundup' hits 7 million viewers while breaking record of 'The Outlaws'

SEOUL, June 1 (Yonhap) – S. Korean action comedy "The Roundup" starring Ma Dong-seok has surpassed 7 million in total attendance, heading for the box office hit as it exceeds the record of the original movie.

“The Roundup” garnered 200,000 people on Tuesday and brought its combined total to 7,013,000 viewers, surpassing 6.88 million cumulative audiences of “The Outlaws,” according to the data by the Korea Film Council on June 1.

According to the distribution company ABO Entertainment, this is the fastest record to reach since the release of “Parasite” in 2019.

"The Roundup" depicts the story of Detective Ma Seok-do(Ma Dong-seok) heading to Vietnam to catch Kang Hae-sang(Son Seok-koo), who has committed crimes against tourists in Vietnam for many years, with his bare hands.
