8th Army honors deputy commanding general's service

SEOUL, Jan. 26 (Yonhap) -- The U.S. Army stationed in South Korea has commemorated the service of Brig. Gen. Lee Sang-min as deputy commanding general for his enduring contributions to the bilateral alliance, the Eighth Army said Monday.

Lee served as the deputy commanding general for South Korea from Dec. 4, 2024, until Jan. 13, according to the release.

During his service, Lee strengthened combined readiness while helping the Eighth Army and South Korea's partners resolve complex coordination challenges that affect training, operations and local communities.

He also contributed to major training events and alliance readiness activities, such as the Freedom Shield and Ulchi Freedom Shield exercises, and supported institutional readiness initiatives.
