Ex-Coast Guard chief conditionally released
Former Korea Coast Guard chief Kim Hong-hee walks out of the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang, 25 kilometers south of Seoul, on Nov. 11, 2022, as the court allowed his release on condition of the payment of 100 million won (US$72,000) in deposit via a review of the legality of his confinement. He was taken into custody late last month on allegations that he was involved in the alleged cover-up of the truth behind a South Korean fisheries official who was shot to death by North Korean soldiers while drifting in waters in the West Sea in September 2020.
