Late actress Kim Sae-ron's family sues YouTuber for defamation

SEOUL, March 17 (Yonhap) -- The family of late actress Kim Sae-ron sued a YouTuber on Monday for allegedly making false claims about her.

Bu Ji-seok, an attorney representing Kim's family, filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency accusing Lee Jin-ho, who runs the YouTube channel Behind Master, of defamation.

Lee has posted multiple videos about Kim since her DUI incident in 2022, and her family claims he wrongly accused the actress of posing as actor Kim Soo-hyun's girlfriend when she shared a photo of them together on social media.

Bu said the family plans to file additional complaints against the YouTuber over his other videos.

Kim was found dead at age 24 at her home in eastern Seoul on Feb. 16.

Last week, YouTube channel Hoverlab claimed, citing a telephone interview with her bereaved family, that she had been seeing Kim Soo-hyun for six years, starting when she was 15.

The actor's agency initially denied the allegations but later acknowledged the two were in a romantic relationship for about a year after she became an adult.
