Ex-S. Gyeongsang governor released following special pardon
Former South Gyeongsang Province Gov. Kim Kyoung-soo, a prominent liberal political figure close to former President Moon Jae-in, is released from a prison in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, southeastern South Korea, on Dec. 28, 2022, following a special pardon from President Yoon Suk Yeol. Kim's two-year prison term on opinion-rigging charges was set to expire in May next year, but his pardon came without a reinstatement, leaving him unable to run for office until December 2027 as before.
