SEOUL, July 28 (Yonhap) -- Ador, the agency of the rookie girl group NewJeans, announced on Thursday that the pre-orders for their debut album have exceeded 400,000 copies.
It has been said that 444,000 copies of NewJeans' debut album "New Jeans" were pre-sold on Wednesday, the third day after the pre-sale started.
With this record, it becomes certain that NewJeans will make a new record in having the most sales out of all girl-group debut albums in a week.
The previous record holder of having the most debut album sales in the first week was LE SSERAFIM's 1st mini album "FEARLESS," which was out on May. It is estimated that about 307,000 copies of "Fearless" were sold within a week of its release.
NewJeans is the first idol group launched by Min Hee-jin, CEO of HYBE's label, Ador. In the past, CEO Min participated in the branding of famous idol groups including Girls' Generation, SHINee, EXO, and f(x) in SM Entertainment.
