SEOUL, Mar. 9 (Yonhap) -- Seoul Broadcasting System will unveil its brand-new variety show “No Math School Trip,” featuring EXO’s D.O. (Doh Kyung-soo), ZICO, Crush, Jannabi’s Choi Jung-hoon, comedians Lee Yong-jin and Yang Se-chan, on Thursday.

During the press conference for the upcoming travel variety show, South Korean comedian Lee Yong-jin said, “As an entertainer, I let go of my greed for the main character and tried to have the younger cast be put under the spotlight.”

The show had already gone viral for casting singers who have rarely appeared in variety shows throughout their careers in the entertainment industry. Choi Jung-hoon, D.O., ZICO, and Crush, who were all born in 1992, will go on a trip to a snow-laden village in Hokkaido, Japan for five nights and six days with the older brothers Lee Yong-jin and Yang Se-chan.

Unlike the younger four singers, who will be appearing in a variety show as regular members for the very first time, comedians Lee and Yang share more experiences to be featured in variety shows. However, Lee said, “The younger cast rather seemed to be veterans.”

“They made us laugh even by saying just a few words, so I was anxious. I could not sleep well,” the veteran comedian said jestfully. “I was frustrated at myself for not being that funny, but they were capable of bringing out laughter naturally. On the other hand, we, the comedians, struggled.”

Lee added, “I naturally became close to the younger cast by not acting like an older brother,” saying with confidence, “As the episodes go on, you will be able to spot our chemistry that makes you wonder how quickly we became close to each other.”

The unveiled charms that the 4 singers could not show off while singing will also be a point to watch.

Yang Se-chan pointed out that Choi Jung-hoon in particular had a good sense of humor, adding that he was not the cold-hearted and clumsy singer that Yang thought he would be as an artist featuring in his very first variety show. “He is actually a very warm-hearted and attractive guy,” Yang complimented.

Producer Choi Bo-pil, who is known to have delivered SBS’ hit variety show “Running Man” from March 2020 to last August, took the helm for this forthcoming variety show.

Choi said, “I attempted the show to be different from ‘Running Man,’ but I think I still have been influenced by my last work.”

He then showed his confidence, saying, “The cast of ‘Running Man’ are all veterans, so I had to intentionally make the missions more challenging. However, as most of the cast for ‘No Math School Trip’ are newcomers in terms of variety shows, I could just throw a mission here and there, and they naturally delivered huge laughter and presented gripping chemistry. I think the show came out much more entertaining than I expected it to be.”
