SEOUL, Mar. 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korean wireless telecommunications operator SK Telecom has joined hands with the metaverse-content specialized company “Persona Space” to create a metaverse space dedicated to the cast of TV Chosun’s mega-hit singing competition show “Mr. Trot 2.”
The two firms will create and introduce avatars modeled after the singers on the metaverse platform “IFLAND” and jointly manage those characters that will be singing and meeting their fans in the virtual world.
The very first project will open a space dedicated to the announcer-turned-singer Kim Yong-pil at IFLAND, which will then be followed by virtual spaces featuring K-pop idols. The two firms are planning to produce content for the global market as well as for the seven finalists of “Mr. Trot 2.”
“In the very near future, we will showcase and manage a brand-new communication means by carrying out diverse activities such as fan meetings and concerts in these virtual spaces dedicated to stars and fans.”
