Pagoda lantern lit for Buddha's Birthday

A pagoda made with Korean paper is lit up at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on April 22, 2026, during a ceremony to light the 19-meter-high lantern modeled on a 13-story octagonal granite pagoda at Pohyon Temple on Mount Myohyang in North Pyongan Province, western North Korea. The event came ahead of Buddha's Birthday, which falls on May 24 this year. (Yonhap)
