Hanwha Aerospace creates new CEO position to lead European, British operations

SEOUL, July 18 (Yonhap) -- South Korean defense systems giant Hanwha Aerospace Co. has created a new chief executive officer (CEO) position for its operations in Europe and Britain, underscoring the company's strategic focus on regional expansion.

Ben Hudson, CEO of Hanwha Defense Australia, has been appointed to the new role. He will oversee Hanwha's existing operations across Europe and Britain to spearhead growth and strengthen partnerships with member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and regional allies.

He will concurrently oversee Hanwha's Australian operations as well, the company said.

Hudson previously held senior executive roles at BAE Systems, Rheinmetall and General Dynamics, including more than 15 years working in Switzerland, Germany and Britain.

A former Australian Army officer with operational experience in East Timor, Hudson holds a master of business administration (MBA) from London Business School and is a dual citizen of Britain and Australia.

"Hanwha's long-term vision starts at the very top of the company, with a drive to partner with our customers and create enduring sovereign capabilities that can deliver solutions to the defense and security challenges faced by nations now and into the future," Hudson said.

Hanwha said the appointment reflects its commitment to delivering localized, interoperable and rapidly deployable defense solutions tailored to European needs. The new leadership structure is also intended to support long-term industrial partnerships and capability-building across the region.
