Jung Woo-sung's appearance at Blue Dragon Film Awards uncertain amid personal scandal
SEOUL, Nov. 26 (Yonhap) -- Actor Jung Woo-sung's appearance at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards on Friday is now in question following the revelation earlier this week that he fathered a child out of wedlock, along with other rumors circulating online.
His agency, Artist Company, said Tuesday they are "discussing" his schedule, marking a shift from its earlier stance that the actor would attend the prestigious event.
Jung has been nominated for Best Actor for his role in the historical hit "12.12: The Day," which has drawn over 13 million moviegoers since its release last November, making it the ninth-biggest film of all time in terms of audience numbers.
The uncertainty surrounding his appearance at the awards comes amid concerns that the news about his personal life could overshadow the ceremony and dominate public attention.
On Sunday, his agency confirmed Jung is the father of model Moon Ga-bi's son, two days after the model revealed she had given birth but did not disclose the father's identity, sparking speculation she might raise the child outside of marriage.
In her post, she described the pregnancy as "unexpected" and shared that she had quietly prepared for motherhood with her family's blessing.
Through his agency, the actor said he would "fulfill his responsibilities," as the father, though the company did not provide further details, such as the child's birth date, the two's relationship status or any plans for marriage.
Public sentiment shifted as rumors surfaced online this week, suggesting the actor had been involved with another woman, although these claims have not been independently verified.
While the matter remains personal, the scandal is expected to damage the actor's reputation, which has long been associated with a gentleman-like image and numerous goodwill activities.
