U.S. satellite possibly to fall around Korean Peninsula

An official monitors the safety of vessels at the situation room of the oceans and fisheries ministry in Sejong, 112 kilometers south of Seoul, on Jan. 9, 2023, as the Earth Radiation Budget Satellite is falling to Earth after completing its decadeslong mission to study how the Earth absorbed and radiated energy from the sun. Launched in 1984, the U.S. satellite is forecast to crash back down to Earth around 12:20-1:20 p.m. (Seoul time), and the Korean Peninsula is included in the regions that the satellite would fall toward.
