PM likely to visit New York this week for talks on U.N. hub

SEOUL, March 10 (Yonhap) -- Prime Minister Kim Min-seok is likely to visit New York later this week to help South Korea's efforts to host a U.N. hub for artificial intelligence-related projects, multiple government sources said Tuesday.

The visit is being arranged for as early as Thursday, with Kim planning to visit the U.N. headquarters for talks on the initiative, according to the sources.

Kim is set to preside over a task force meeting on bringing the hub to South Korea later Tuesday.

This will mark the prime minister's second visit to the United States in as many months. On his previous trip, he met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance in Washington.

The prime minister could use the upcoming trip to meet senior U.S. government officials over tariffs and other pending issues between the two countries.
