N. Korea says test-fired cruise, anti-warship missiles from destroyer Sunday

SEOUL, April 14 (Yonhap) -- North Korea said Tuesday it has test-fired strategic cruise missiles and anti-warship missiles from the destroyer Choe Hyon over the weekend, with leader Kim Jong-un calling for steadily bolstering a nuclear war deterrent.

The North's leader observed the launches of two strategic cruise missiles and three anti-warship missiles fired from the destroyer on Sunday, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

Kim said "the preparedness of our army's strategic action has been strengthened in a qualitative way with various achievements recently made in the field of defense science," according to the KCNA.

He also called for "steadily and unlimitedly bolster up the powerful and reliable nuclear war deterrent" while unveiling an important task of further strengthening the country's strategic and tactical attack capability, it added.
