APEC finance ministers to discuss AI, demographic changes next week
SEOUL, Oct. 17 (Yonhap) -- Finance ministers from member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) will gather in South Korea next week to discuss the expansion of the digital economy, including artificial intelligence (AI), and financial challenges stemming from shifts in industrial and demographic structures, Seoul's finance ministry said Friday.
The APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting will take place in Incheon, just west of Seoul, from Tuesday to Thursday under the theme "Building a Sustainable Tomorrow," according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
It will mark the last ministerial meeting to be held ahead of the APEC summit, scheduled to take place in the country's southeastern city of Gyeongju from Oct. 31 to Nov. 1.
The upcoming meeting will cover various topics, including the global economic outlook, AI and the digital economy, as well as ways to foster sustainable growth amid industrial and demographic changes, the ministry said.
This year's meeting, in particular, will be jointly held with the APEC Structural Reform Ministerial Meeting for the first time, it added.
