SEOUL, Feb. 7 (Yonhap) -- The upcoming Hanbok Model Contest, hosted by South Korea’s World Culture Association based out of Seoul, will be held both in South Korea and France from April to June.
Contests are expected to be held not only in major cities in Korea, including Seoul, Incheon, Busan, Gwangju, Daegu, Ulsan, Daejeon, Jeonju, and Chungju, but also in Paris, France, the organizing committee of the 2023 Korea Hanbok Model Contest announced Tuesday.
National and international female models born before 2010 are eligible to participate in this year’s contest. The finalists will be competing at the Hwabaek Convention Center in Gyeongju on July 22.
The final winners will receive 10 million won in prize money, along with fees for their trip and accommodation to participate in the overseas contests and a special hanbok exclusively made for them. They will also be officially invited to fashion shows held overseas and in Korea, along with an opportunity to shoot magazine pictorials.
Moreover, they will also be named as models for fashion shows commemorating diplomatic relations around the world, including the World Costume Festival, the Wedding Hanbok Trend Show, and the Korea Dress Show.
Jeong Samuel, the head of the Korean Cultural Diplomatic Mission who is also an expert on organizing such international events, has been appointed as the general director and chief producer of this year’s Hanbok Model Contest.
