SEOUL, July 22 (Yonhap) -- Acclaimed director Park Chan-wook’s latest film “No Other Choice” will be released in South Korean theaters this September, distributor CJ ENM announced Tuesday.
Adapted from American author Donald Westlake’s novel “The Ax,” the film tells the story of Mansoo, an office worker who seemingly leads a satisfying life until he is suddenly laid off. In a desperate bid to protect his wife and two children, he embarks on a journey to find new employment—setting off a chain of unpredictable events.
The film marks Park’s return to feature filmmaking three years after his 2022 Cannes-winning work “Decision to Leave.” He has previously described “No Other Choice” as the project he has most wanted to bring to life.
Lee Byung-hun stars as Mansoo, while Son Ye-jin plays his wife, Miri. The cast also includes Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yum Hye-ran, and Cha Seung-won.
CJ ENM also unveiled the first poster and teaser trailer for the film on the same day.
