SEOUL, April 22 (Yonhap) -- K-pop group THE BOYZ has filed a criminal complaint against the head of its agency on embezzlement charges, escalating an ongoing dispute over its exclusive contract.
According to the group’s legal representative, the members recently filed a complaint against Cha Ga-won, head of One Hundred Label, on charges of embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. The complaint was reportedly filed by nine members, excluding member New.
In response, attorney Hyun Dong-yeop, representing the agency, dismissed the allegations as groundless, saying the company has faithfully fulfilled its financial settlement obligations to the group.
He added that the agency will take all legal measures, including filing false accusation charges, against the artists, while expressing hope for the group’s continued activities as a full 10-member act.
THE BOYZ, which signed with One Hundred Label in December 2024, had earlier filed an injunction in February seeking to suspend the validity of their exclusive contracts.
At the time, the members claimed the agency had failed to pay settlements since July last year and had refused to provide access to financial records needed to verify transparency.
The agency countered that it cannot accept the group’s demand to terminate the contract.
Despite the dispute, THE BOYZ plans to proceed with its scheduled solo concerts from April 24 to 26 at KSPO Dome in Seoul’s Olympic Park.
