SEOUL, May 18 (Yonhap) -- A translation service system for foreign tourists and residents in Busan will be established in taxis.
Busan city announced on the 18th that it had signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Justice, Republic of Korea, Busan Foundation for International Cooperation, and the personal/corporate Taxi Association to establish the Dongbaek Taxi Smart Service.
A promotional sticker for the mobile application "Life in Busan" will allow the services of "Dongbaek Taxi," a public taxi service linked to the local currency Dongbaekjeon, where one will be able to receive translation services in 12 languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese.
When one scans the QR code on this sticker, they will be able to get help from the Busan Foundation for International Cooperation Interpretation Support Team, which consists of 170 people from 17 countries, by phone or chat.
The city also decided to promote linking the Donbaek Taxi app and the Life in Busan app.
In fact, the city plans to build a service system for Dongbaek Taxi, which accounts for 80% of the 24,000 taxis registered in Busan first before expanding the service to all.
