SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Yonhap) -- The hit Korean series “Squid Game” has won six honors at the Gold Derby TV Awards, a U.S. pop culture awards event, organizers said Tuesday.
According to the website of Gold Derby, a U.S. awards prediction outlet, “Squid Game” took home the best drama series award at the “2025 Gold Derby TV Awards.”
Lee Jung-jae, who played Seong Gi-hun in the series, won best actor in a drama. Kang Ae-sim, who portrayed Jang Geum-ja, received best supporting actress, while Choi Seung-hyun (T.O.P of BigBang), who played Thanos, won best supporting actor. Gong Yoo, who appeared as the “ddakji man,” earned best guest performer. The show also claimed best ensemble of the year.
The awards recognized television content and films released between 2024 and 2025. Since “Squid Game” season 2 premiered last December and season 3 in June this year, the honors were regarded as being given to “Squid Game 2” and “Squid Game 3.”
Now in its 22nd edition, the Gold Derby TV Awards celebrate excellence across 30 categories in drama, variety, animation and film.
