SEOUL, Sept. 9 (Yonhap) -- Actress Go Hyun-jung rescued a 6-year-old child actor from being swept away by waves while filming the drama “Queen Mantis” last year, industry sources said Tuesday.
According to reports, the mother of child actor Cho Se-woong revealed on social media Sept. 7 that her son had nearly been pulled under by waves while filming on an island in Sinan County, South Jeolla Province, when Go leapt into the water to save him.
“She is truly Se-woong’s lifesaver,” she wrote. “Just as the waves were about to engulf him, Go Hyun-jung sprinted faster than anyone else from afar and pulled him out.”
She added, “Her clothes were completely soaked, and she threw herself in to save him. I was frozen in shock and couldn’t move, but I sincerely thank her again.”
The incident occurred while filming a scene in which serial killer Jung I-shin (played by Go) and her son Cha Su-yeol are seen playing on a beach in the past. The scene aired in the drama’s first episode Sept. 5.
“Queen Mantis,” a crime thriller starring Go, reached a peak viewership rating of 10 percent during its second episode.
