Lotte Department Store targets Chinese Labor Day, Japan’s Golden Week shoppers with up to 10% benefits

SEOUL, April 22 (Yonhap) -- Lotte Department Store said Wednesday it will launch a “shopping week” promotion for foreign customers in line with China’s Labor Day holiday and Japan’s Golden Week.

Through May 10, foreign customers who spend more than 1,200 yuan using WeChat Pay will receive a 50-yuan instant discount coupon, along with an additional 5 percent preferential exchange rate coupon.

From April 24 to May 10, customers who pay more than 200,000 won using Line Pay Taiwan at all branches will receive a 10 percent reward in Line points.

In addition, from May 1 to 6, customers using UnionPay at the retailer’s main store and Jamsil branch will be offered a 10 percent instant discount, along with an extra 10 percent of the tax refund amount.

At seven stores with a high proportion of foreign visitors, shoppers will also receive gift certificates worth 7 percent of their purchases in the fashion and sports categories.

During the same period, customers purchasing from the top 10 beauty brands favored by foreign shoppers, including Sulwhasoo, will receive Lotte gift certificates worth 5 percent of their spending, depending on purchase amounts.

A company official said the promotion comes amid expectations for record-high inbound tourism next month.

“We have strengthened instant tax refund services and optimized benefits across various payment methods to enhance shopping convenience for individual travelers,” the official said.
