SEOUL, June 5 (Yonhap) -- Full-scale restoration and maintenance work is underway with President Lee Jae-myung planning to move his office back to Cheong Wa Dae, according to Cheong Wae Dae Foundation on Thursday.

The restoration work on the Cheong Wa Dae trails began Wednesday. Until the work is completed, public access to the trails will be restricted.

The construction area spans the entire 1.31 km Cheong Wa Dae trail, starting behind Chilgung, passing Baegakjeong, and leading to the path beside the Chunchugwan press center. However, facilities such as the main building and guesthouse, which are not part of the trail, remain open to visitors.

The foundation emphasized that the restoration is unrelated to President Lee’s election. A representative stated, “This project was scheduled before the presidential election,” adding, “There are no specific instructions yet regarding the return of the presidential office.”

Until the office’s return is confirmed, the foundation will continue to accept reservations up to four weeks in advance and will maintain its regular weekend performances.
