A shopkeeper makes "garaetteok," a long tube of Korean rice cake, in five colors at a rice cake shop in Suwon, 34 kilometers south of Seoul, on Jan. 13, 2023, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, which runs from Jan. 21-24 this year. 

 

Garaetteok is a staple used to make a traditional soup of sliced rice cake eaten during the holiday. (Yonhap)
