SEOUL, April 29 (Yonhap) -- The Korean Film Archive announced Tuesday it will host an exhibition titled "Run on the Cel, Gil-dong!" at the Korean Film Museum in Seoul's Mapo District from May 2 to August, highlighting 30 years of Korean animation history.
The exhibition features beloved animated works such as Korea’s first feature-length animated film "Hong Gil-dong" (1967), "Robot Taekwon V" (1976), "Taekwon Kid Maruchi & Arachi" (1977), "Dokgo Tak: Throw to the Sun" (1983), and "Dooly the Little Dinosaur: The Adventure on Ice Planet" (1996).
A section will introduce the principles and production process of cel animation, the traditional technique involving hand-drawn images on transparent sheets.
Visitors will also be able to try making their own animated scene by inserting drawings onto cels in a hands-on experience titled "Challenge! Be an Animator."
