SEOUL, Feb. 11 (Yonhap) -- The Korea Heritage Service hosts the "Full Moon Descends on Changgyeonggung Palace for Jeongwol Daeboreum" event this week.
The event runs from Feb. 11 to 16 in collaboration with the National Children’s Science Center.
During the event, a full moon installation will be set up near the Punggi-dae, a historical structure designated as a treasure in 1985. Punggi-dae, located on the hill behind Jipbokheon, was used during the Joseon Dynasty to measure wind direction and speed, offering a glimpse into Korea’s meteorological history.
The full moon installation will illuminate the night from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. On the night of Daeboreum, February 12, a special moon-gazing event will take place in front of the Grand Greenhouse (Daeon-sil) from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in collaboration with the National Children’s Science Museum.
Visitors can enjoy the full moon installation during evening hours, but the event may be canceled in case of rain, snow, or cloudy weather on Daeboreum.
The Changgyeonggung Palace Office is also hosting a social media event, where participants can take photos with the full moon backdrop, upload them to SNS with the hashtag #창경궁보름달, and enter a draw to win Changgyeonggung-related books. Ten winners will be selected.
