'My Daughter Is a Zombie' Tops Weekly Ticket Reservations

SEOUL, Aug. 1 (Yonhap) -- The comedy film "My Daughter Is a Zombie," starring Cho Jung-seok, is off to a strong start at the box office, leading ticket reservations heading into its first weekend.

 

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing network on Monday, the film topped the box office on its second day of release, attracting over 240,000 viewers with a revenue share of 48.2 percent. The film has drawn over 700,000 cumulative admissions in just two days.

 

Racing movie "F1: The Movie," starring Brad Pitt, ranked second with approximately 74,000 viewers and a 16.5 percent revenue share, followed by DreamWorks’ animated film "The Bad Guys 2," which drew about 33,000 viewers (6.3 percent revenue share).

 

Directed by Pil Gam-sung, "My Daughter Is a Zombie" tells the story of Jeong-hwan (Cho Jung-seok), a zookeeper specializing in wild animals, who struggles to save his daughter Su-a (Choi Yoo-ri) after she becomes infected with a zombie virus.

 

The film also leads in advance ticket sales, signaling a dominant opening weekend. As of 9 a.m. Monday, its reservation rate stood at 36.8 percent with over 220,000 tickets sold, far ahead of "F1: The Movie" at 15.4 percent.
