SEOUL, March 3 (Yonhap) -- Veteran K-pop singer BoA, 40, has established her own agency, BApal Entertainment, after departing from SM Entertainment, where she had been signed for 25 years until the end of last year.
BApal Entertainment said Tuesday that BoA chose a new structure to more clearly realize her musical direction, explaining the background behind her decision to go independent.
The newly founded agency was set up directly by BoA. Its name combines “BoA” and “pal,” meaning friend, signifying “BoA and friends” and reflecting the company’s aim to grow together with fans.
BoA’s side said the precious memories and valuable experiences she accumulated over many years of activity have become the most important assets shaping her as a solid artist today, adding that she will further strengthen her musical foundation based on what she has learned.
