SEOUL, Dec. 28 (Yonhap) -- Cultural Heritage Administration announced on Wednesday that lljumuns, first gates of four main Buddhist temples in Korea, including Seonamsa in Jeollanam-do province, have become treasures of Korea.

lljumun is the entrance gate of Buddhist temple and also the front gate that marks where the Buddhist temple begins. Unlike the ordinary house style where a roof is put on top of four pillars, lljumun has a rare style of putting a roof on top of only two pillars that are in alignment.

Literally, it means a door with one column, but in reality, it is a door with columns in a row.

This is the second time Iljumun has been designated as a treasure since Jogyemun Gate, lljumun of Beomeosa, a head temple of the Hogye Order of Korean Buddhism, in Busan.

lljumun, the first door to go inside the Seonamsa, is also called "Hogyemun Gate, and there is a record that it was built again in 1540.

Bonghwangmun Gate, Iljumun of Mungyeong Bong-Amsa, is predicted to be built before 1723.

Bonghwangmun Gate of Donghwasa Temple, first established in 1633, and Iljumun of Gurye Cheoneunsa built in 1723 also became treasures this time.
