SEOUL, June 3 (Yonhap) -- Group BTS member Jimin (birth name: Park Ji-min) apologized for the recent unpaid health insurance premiums controversy.
While wrapping up the White House event, Jimin said through the fan community platform Weverse on Thursday, “I want to apologize for causing concerns due to my inexperienced action,” according to the music industry on Friday.
The member explained, “Thanks to the ARMYs of different races, countries, and cultures, I was able to represent you all and participate in this event and raise our voices.”
Jimin said, “However, I thought I might be too inexperienced to be here on behalf of you,” adding, “I will try my best to become a more mature version of myself to not cause any concerns.”
The member added, “You must have all been worried since I didn’t come too often, but from now on I will. I always miss you all.”
Jimin did not mention any details in the post but is interpreted as an apology for the controversy over his luxury apartment being seized because the member hadn’t paid his health insurance premiums.
Earlier, it was reported that Jimin’s luxury apartment in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul was temporarily seized in January because the member hadn’t paid about 28 million won of health insurance premiums. The singer paid all the arrears in full and the seizure has been lifted.
Regarding the issue, the agency, Big Hit Music explained, "The company receives the mail that arrives at the artists' dorms and delivers it to the artists. In this procedure, a portion of mail was omitted.”
According to the agency, Jimin wasn't aware of the delayed payment because of his overseas schedule and extended vacation starting from the end of last year and just as he knew, the artist paid all the payments.
