SEOUL, May 7 (Yonhap) -- ADOR, the agency of K-pop girl group NewJeans, said Thursday it is discussing member Minji's future activities in a positive direction amid speculation about her possible return to the group.

"We are continuing internal discussions regarding her future activities," the agency said in a statement regarding rumors of Minji's return to NewJeans.

"At this time, we do not have a separate position to provide on specific matters," it added. "However, we would appreciate your understanding that discussions are generally proceeding in a positive direction."

Earlier in the day, NewJeans' official social media account uploaded several photos showing Minji making cookies along with the message "HAPPY MINJI DAY."

The group's account on fan platform Weverse also displayed a birthday image celebrating Minji, whose birthday falls on May 7.

Online posts recently claimed that Minji made a surprise visit to a birthday-themed fan cafe event prepared by fans, where she handed out handwritten letters and cookies.

Speculation about her return grew after ADOR publicly celebrated her birthday through the group's official accounts.

NewJeans, which has been embroiled in a dispute with its agency, saw members Hanni, Haerin and Hyein return to ADOR in November last year.

Minji's future status has yet to be finalized, while Danielle left the group and remains in a legal dispute with ADOR.
