SEOUL, July 11 (Yonhap) -- The newly rebooted film "Superman" is expected to top the box office in its opening weekend, continuing its strong performance in daily ticket sales and reservations.

According to data from the Korean Film Council’s box office information system on Friday, "Superman" attracted over 56,000 moviegoers on Wednesday, accounting for a 26.5 percent share of total box office sales. The film has remained at the top of the daily box office following its official release on July 9.

"Superman" tells the story of the Man of Steel (played by David Corenswet) as he faces off against his longtime nemesis Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult). The film marks the first title released under director James Gunn’s leadership as co-CEO of DC Studios and was helmed by Gunn himself, known for his work on the "Guardians of the Galaxy" series.

The film currently holds an 86 percent score on CGV’s Golden Egg Index, which reflects audience satisfaction based on post-viewing ratings. Viewer reactions have been mixed, with some welcoming Gunn’s signature light and witty tone and others expressing reservations.

Coming in second was "Jurassic World: New Dawn" ("Jurassic World 4"), which drew approximately 47,000 viewers on Wednesday, bringing its cumulative audience to over 1.27 million.

The horror film "Noise," starring Lee Sun-bin, ranked third for the day with around 42,000 admissions, pushing its total to approximately 870,000.

"Superman" is also leading in ticket reservations. As of 9 a.m. Thursday, it held a reservation rate of 18.7 percent with more than 87,000 advance tickets sold. "Jurassic World 4" followed with a reservation rate of 16.6 percent.
