SEOUL, Feb. 27 (Yonhap) -- The historic Changgyeonggung Palace, with over 600 years of history, will be transformed by light starting next month.

The Korea Heritage Service (KHS) and the Korea Heritage Agency (KHA) announced on Thursday that the nighttime viewing program Changgyeonggung Moonlight Lotus Show will run from March 7 to Dec. 31.

Designed to showcase the palace’s natural beauty through light and advanced visual technology, this media art experience was first introduced during last year’s Royal Culture Festival and will now be a regular event. It will take place daily from 7 p.m., except on Mondays when the palace is closed.

The main attraction is centered around Chundangji Pond, where visitors can enjoy a mesmerizing display of lights. The pathway leading to the pond will be adorned with illuminated trees, while the Light of Harmony will brighten the area around the Grand Greenhouse—the first Western-style conservatory in Korea.

During the peak seasons of spring and autumn, three media art films incorporating cutting-edge visual technology will also be screened, capturing the palace’s nighttime scenery and natural landscape.

Anyone visiting Changgyeonggung Palace in the evening can enjoy Moonlight Lotus Show.

A representative from the National Heritage Administration stated, “Following Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour, Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night, and Seokjojeon at Night in Deoksugung, we are expanding nighttime programs to offer new ways to experience the beauty of Korea’s royal palaces.”
