GOYANG, Nov. 5 (Yonhap) -- “Haljinguh Game,” a parody of Korea’s global Netflix hit production, “Squid Game” is taking place in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province to prevent seniors from getting dementia by using traditional games.
“Haljinguh Game” is a conjunction of ‘game’ and the Korean word “halmae halbae” which mean grandma grandpa.
To prevent senile dementia of seniors whose outdoors activities were limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ilsan Seogu Community Health Center in Goyan-si will carry out the game from 2nd to 25th of November at a Community Service Center in Ilsan 3(sam)-dong, the Health Center announced Friday.
Senior participants will wear uniforms and play various traditional games such as String Game, Ttakji, Red Light Green Light, Gonggi Game, Biseokchigi, Jegichagi and Marbles.
“The seniors feel excited like they are back in their childhoods while playing games together after the long period under quarantine. We will prepare more entertaining face-to-face programs to boost our classes for dementia prevention,” said an official of Goyang City.
