SEOUL, Dec. 12 (Yonhap) -- Disney’s animated feature “Zootopia 2” is expected to continue dominating the local box office through the weekend.
According to data from the Korean Film Council’s box office information system on Friay, “Zootopia 2” drew some 108,000 moviegoers the previous day, accounting for 55.5 percent of total ticket sales and ranking No. 1 at the box office. Its cumulative admissions have now reached about 4.364 million.
Director Ha Jung-woo’s comedy film “The Neighbors Upstairs” remained steady at No. 2, attracting around 21,000 viewers with a 10.7 percent revenue share.
Japan’s animated feature “Anime: Shibuya Incident X Death Painting Womb” ranked third with about 9,000 admissions, while the comedy film “The Informant,” starring Heo Sung-tae and Cho Bok-rae, followed in fourth place with around 6,000.
As of 9 a.m., the top spot in advance ticket sales was held by “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” which opens on Dec. 17, with about 242,000 reservations already made.
“Avatar: Fire and Ash,” the third installment in the “Avatar” franchise, is drawing attention as it marks the series’ return three years after “The Way of Water.”
“Zootopia 2” ranked second in advance sales with about 222,000 bookings, while “The Neighbors Upstairs” came in third with some 23,000.
The newly released “Pororo Movie: Sweet Castle Adventure,” which opened the previous day, ranked fourth with about 21,000 advance ticket holders.
