SEOUL, Sept. 29 (Yonhap) -- Director Shin Su-won's new film "Hommage" has been invited to the competition category of the 34th Tokyo International Film Festival, according to distributor JUNE Film on Tuesday.
"Hommage," starring actress Lee Jeong-eun, is a film that tells a story of a middle-aged woman, who struggles between her dreams and reality, restoring a film she made as a female movie director back in the 60s.
Director Shin, who has thrown multiple heavy messages into society through the films "Pluto," "Madonna," and "Our Sunny Days of Youth," asks the question of what life and film are in "Hommage."
Director Shin, who has won awards at the Berlin International Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival, won the grand prize at the 23rd Tokyo International Film Festival "Asian Future" category in 2010 for his first feature film "Passerby #3." This year's Tokyo film festival will be held from Oct. 30 to Nov. 8, and the film will be released in Korea in the first half of next year.
