SEOUL January 3 (Yonhap) -- Pair of Oriental Stork, Cheonsu and Mansu living in “Seosan Mountain Bird Land” located within South Chungcheong province has been killed by a Leopard Cat.
Cheonsu and Mansu were transferred from “Yesan Stork Park” to “Seosan Mountain Bird Land” on September 30.
According to “Seosan Mountain Bird Land” on Monday, Cheonsu and Mansu were found dead within the artificial chamber for initial release on December 20.
“Seosan Mountain Bird Land” indicated the intrusion of a baby Leopard Cat through the top part of the chamber based on the footage recorded by the security camera.
Cheonsu and Mansu were expected to lay their eggs within February until May and raise the baby stork until July and planned to be released back to nature.
“Seosan Mountain Bird Land” which upped their protective measures after losing Cheonsu and Mansu, requested another pair of Oriental Stork to Cultural Heritage Administration, however death of Cheonsu and Mansu will be raised against “Seosan Mountain Bird Land.”
