SEOUL, June 27 (Yonhap) -- Blockbuster film “Top Gun : Maverick” (Top gun 2) has topped the Korean box office after it’s first weekend of release.
According to the integrated network of movie tickets by the Korean Film Council, “Top Gun 2” has topped the South Korean box office chart within 4 days of its release with more than 1.127 million viewers.
It has been 6 weeks since the last foreign movie has topped the Korean box office. South Korean film “Round up” has topped the Korean box office chart for 4 weeks, and “The Witch: Part 2 The Other One” has topped for a week, going head to head on the South Korean box office.
Due to the rise of “Top Gun 2” in rank both “Round up” and “The Witch Part 2 The Other One” was pushed down the ladder ranking 2nd and 3rd in the chart.
Throughout the weekend “The Witch: Part 2 The Other One” drew more than 402 thousand viewers easily passing the total viewers mark of 2 million people.
Moreover, “Round up” drew more than 318 thousand viewers during the weekend, so far 12 million people have watched the movie. The record of “Round up” has surpassed data of “Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War” which was ranked 18th on the list of most watched Korean movies with roughly 11.1 million viewers.
Although both “Willvengers” and “My Perfect Roommate” entered the South Korean box office as 7th and 10th they stopped at 13 thousand, and 5 thousand viewers in total.
