SEOUL, May 26 (Yonhap) -- The action blockbuster Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, starring Tom Cruise, continued its dominance at the South Korean box office over the weekend, securing the No. 1 spot for the second consecutive week.
According to data from the Korean Film Council's box office information system released Monday, the Christopher McQuarrie-directed film drew some 687,000 moviegoers from May 23 to 25, accounting for 64.7 percent of total ticket sales.
The film far outpaced its closest competitor, Disney’s live-action remake Lilo & Stitch, which attracted about 157,000 viewers (14.1 percent) during the same period.

However, compared to its opening weekend, the film saw a slight drop in attendance. Upon its release on May 17, Mission: Impossible 8 had drawn 758,000 moviegoers in just two days.
The film’s cumulative admissions have surpassed 1.83 million, and it is expected to cross the 2 million mark later this week.
Director Hwang Byung-kook’s political drama Yadang maintained strong performance in its fifth week, drawing around 61,000 viewers (5.7 percent) to place third. Its cumulative audience has reached approximately 3.32 million.

A controversial documentary, Rigged Election: Work of God?, debuted in sixth place with around 15,000 viewers (1.4 percent).
