SEOUL, April 25 (Yonhap) -- The Korea Heritage Service’s Hyeonchungsa Management Office will hold a commemorative ceremony on April 28 at Hyeonchungsa Shrine in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, to mark the 480th anniversary of the birth of Admiral Yi Sun-sin (1545–1598), officials said Friday.
A traditional tea ritual (darye) will begin at 11 a.m., with the head of the Hyeonchungsa Management Office serving as the chief officiant (Chohon-gwan), offering incense and the first ceremonial drink.
Lee Jong-sul, a descendant of Admiral Yi, will serve as the second officiant (Aheon-gwan), while citizen representative Kim Sang-moon will act as the third officiant (Jongheon-gwan). A floral tribute and incense offering will also be made on behalf of the acting president.

Members of the Hyeonchungsa Youth Heritage Guardians, a student group dedicated to preserving the legacy of Admiral Yi and the 1932 reconstruction of Hyeonchungsa, will also participate by laying flowers.
In conjunction with the anniversary, a special exhibition featuring photos and illustrations related to Admiral Yi and his legacy is on display at the Hyeonchungsa old residence through May 5.
Meanwhile, the 64th Presidential National Archery Competition will be held at the shrine’s archery range on the morning of April 28.
