JECHEON, South Korea, Sept. 10 (Yonhap) -- The 21st Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (JIMFF) wrapped up its six-day run, pledging to return next year.
The closing ceremony took place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Jecheon Arts Center, hosted by actor Jang Hyun-sung and singer Kim Yoon-ju.
The grand prize in the international competition section, which carries 20 million won (US$14,500) in prize money, went to “Elsie’s Song” (2024), directed by Swiss filmmaker Katalin Gödrös.
In the newly established Korean feature film music competition section “Music Insight,” Kim Tae-sung, music director of “Exhuma” (2024), received the top honor, also accompanied by a 20 million won prize.
The “New Talent” award for emerging film music directors, worth 10 million won, was given to director Yeom Seung-ho for “Sisyphus’ Orbital Period” (2025).
Following the awards, the festival closed with a screening of director Liang Lien’s “Last Song for You” (2024), a film depicting reunion and farewell with a past lover.
Held under the slogan “All Together JIMFF,” this year’s festival showcased 134 films from 36 countries, including the opening film “Musician” by French director Gregory Magne.
Renowned French film composer Eric Serra, along with Korean acts 10cm, Glen Check and N.Flying, also took the stage during the festivities.
