Seoul evacuates more nationals from war-hit Iran
SEOUL, March 14 (Yonhap) -- Several more South Koreans have evacuated from war-hit Iran aboard a state-chartered bus, the foreign ministry said Saturday, as Seoul continues to bring nationals to safety amid the conflict in the Middle East.
One South Korean and two Iranian family members evacuated to Turkmenistan earlier in the day after boarding a government-chartered bus in Tehran on Wednesday, the ministry said.
Additionally, four more South Koreans arrived safely in Turkmenistan on Thursday, a day after departing from Tehran under a government-assisted evacuation plan, the ministry also said.
Seoul is evacuating nationals from the conflict zone amid the ongoing military conflict in the Middle East triggered by U.S.-Israel strikes in Iran and Tehran's retaliatory attacks across the region.
Earlier this month, 24 South Koreans evacuated from Iran to Turkmenistan aboard government-chartered buses, among more than a hundred people who left the region with government assistance.
