S. Korea, Bahrain exchange letters commemorating 50th anniv. of diplomatic ties

SEOUL, April 17 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Bahrain exchanged letters between their top diplomats to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the foreign ministry said Friday.

Foreign Minister Cho Hyun noted in the letter to his counterpart, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the significance of the two countries' deepening ties based on mutual trust, especially amid the challenging circumstances surrounding the Middle East conflict, the ministry said.

With the formal opening of the Bahraini Embassy in Seoul in March, Cho expressed expectations that the two countries will continue to further develop their relationship.

Al Zayani highlighted the close and friendly relationship built over the past five decades across various fields, voicing hope that bilateral ties will continue to advance in a future-oriented manner.

South Korea and Bahrain forged their diplomatic ties on April 17, 1976.
