Musical actor sent to prosecution over alleged sexual assault

SEOUL, March 11 (Yonhap) -- A well-known musical actor has been sent to prosecutors on charges of sexually assaulting a woman, police said Wednesday.

According to police and sources, the Seoul Bangbae Police Station last month referred a male musical actor, Choi Kyung-joo, to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office on charges of rape by abuse of occupational authority.

Choi is accused of sexually assaulting a woman, identified as A, in Seoul last year.

A reportedly escaped the scene at the time and reported the incident to police.

Although Choi denied the allegation, police said they concluded the charge was substantiated and forwarded the case to prosecutors.

The case is currently being handled by the Women and Children Crimes Investigation Division 2 at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office.
