SEOUL, Sept. 27 (Yonhap) -- The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange announced on the 27th that they will host the "2024 Hallyu Living Culture Festival: Mokkoji Korea" in Budapest Park, Hungary, from October 5-6.
Mokkoji Korea was launched in 2020 to promote cross-cultural understanding through Hallyu (Korean Wave) and to expand fans' interests from pop culture to everyday culture. The event has reached Hallyu fans in nine countries, including Kazakhstan, Myanmar, and the Philippines.
This year, the event will be held in Hungary, a cultural hub in Central Europe where interest in Hallyu is high, but large-scale K-pop concerts and Hallyu events have been rare.
The K-pop concert on October 6 will feature performances by Sunmi, AB6IX, and Dreamcatcher. It will mark the first large-scale K-pop concert with multiple popular groups in Hungary.

The venue will also feature various exhibitions and hands-on experiences, including a Korean culture quiz show, Korean food cooking demonstrations, a fusion exhibition of K-content and Korean cuisine, beauty and fashion experiences, Korean drama activities, and traditional games.
Seven public organizations are preparing special K-culture programs. The Korean Cultural Center in Hungary will showcase traditional food and host K-pop experiences, while the Korea Tourism Organization will promote major Korean tourist destinations. The King Sejong Institute Foundation will offer Korean language and food tasting experiences, and the Korea Culture and Information Service will present traditional culture through virtual reality (VR). Additionally, KOTRA will support the promotion of Korean companies and products.
Choi Bo-geun, Director of International Culture Promotion Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "This event will provide an opportunity to showcase the charm of Hallyu living culture and excellent Korean products in Central Europe, where there have been limited opportunities to experience Hallyu."
