SEOUL December 12 (Yonhap) -- Hwacheon County of Gangwon Province known for their Sancheon Ice Festival is going through finalizing its ice sculptures for the Christmas festival.
Indoor Ice Sculpture center plaza located in Hwacheon county will exhibit sculpture worked on by 26 of the professional Ice Lantern sculptures.
Seohwasan Mountain complex located near the festival site will be used to withhold a sculpture created using over 8500 different ice blocks which comes down to the overall size of 17 hundred ㎡
A single block of ice cube consists of 135 kg.
At the site of the construction, forklifts are used to haul the blocks, while the professional sculptures sit on top of the ice blocks consists of the height of second story building work on carving the ice.
Professional Chinese Ice lantern makers which recently entered South Korea will create gigantic South Korean flag, Ice Hotel, Chinese garden, and over 30 various sculptures.
In order host the upcoming ice festival, Hwacheon County Government checked up on their freezer since mid October so that they can keep the temperature 15 degrees below zero.
Indoor ice sculpture center plaza will open up on Christmas eve by hanging up the trout like ice lantern throughout the inner city, and with the celebration event of lighting those lanterns.
Admission fee for adult will be 5 thousand won, and for senior citizen, military personal and more the admission fee will be 3 thousand won.
Moreover, the festival will be offering gift vouchers worth of 3 thousand won which can be used at the scene of the festival to buy something.
