SEOUL, September 6 (Yonhap)-- An event where visitors can experience Gangneung, Gangwon-do in a special way, walking through traditional houses and riding the sea train that connects the east coast will be held.
The Korea Cultural Heritage Administration and Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation announced on Tuesday that there will be a "Gwandong Pungryu Era Route" festival from September 16 to 18, which is part of the Visit Korean Heritage Campaign.
The Visit Korean Heritage Campaign is a business to let people know about the value and beauty of cultural heritage. It began in 2020, and finally it will be held face-to-face. The "Gwandong Pungryu Era Route" is a course that shows the heritage of Gangneung, Sokcho, Yangyang, and Pyeongchang.
Among all the places, Gangneung is well known as the place where the ancient ancestors sang of the beauty made by the Baekdudaegan and the East Sea and enjoyed the wind. Recently, the place has been getting attention from the younger generation for coffee and surfing.
The night walk program "Visiting the Moonlight of Seongyojang" will be held during the festival period. Seongyojang, which shows the appearance of the living quarters of the four generations of the Joseon Dynasty, has been well preserved in its original form for over 300 years and is evaluated as having high cultural value in harmony with the surrounding beautiful nature.
In the walking program held three times a day, the commentator will accompany the participants to Wolhamun, Hwalraejeong, Soteuldaemun, Youlhwadang, and many more places in the Seongyojang, and visitors will be able to walk around and watch traditional art performances.
The "Sea Train x Gwandong Pungryu" departs from Gangneung and is a program where visitors can see the overall east coast. The train will be accompanied by a commentator who will tell stories about Gwandong Jibang and Pungryu.The passengers can sit and watch the performances held at Jeongdongjin Station and Samcheok Beach Station from the train cabin.
The train will leave Gangneung Station twice a day at 10:47 am and 2:41 pm. It can accommodate up to 36 people at once and will run for about 70 minutes.
Both programs need prior reservations and are free of charge.
Reservations can be made through Interpark Ticket (ticket.interpark.com) from 2pm on September 7.
