SEOUL, Jan. 3 (Yonhap) -- Major year-end awards shows by TV broadcasters have been rescheduled for this month in the wake of the tragic Jeju Air accident at Muan International Airport last weekend.

MBC announced on Friday that the "2024 MBC Drama Awards" will air on Sunday at 5:10 p.m. The ceremony, originally set for Dec. 30, was pre-recorded instead of broadcast live due to the national mourning period.

KBS has also rescheduled its "2024 KBS Drama Awards," which was canceled on Dec. 31, to Jan. 11 at 9:20 p.m. Meanwhile, SBS will hold its "SBS Entertainment Awards," previously canceled altogether on Dec. 31, as a live broadcast on Lunar New Year’s Day, Jan. 29.

However, the "MBC Entertainment Awards," originally planned for the day of the tragedy and canceled at the last minute, remains undecided regarding its rescheduling or whether it will take place at all.

The government declared a national mourning period from Nov. 29 to Dec. 4 in light of the tragedy. During this time, broadcasters canceled live coverage of awards shows and observed a subdued year-end atmosphere.
