Lee Jun-ho celebrates 10th anniversary as ambassador of World Vision

SEOUL, Jan. 30 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actor and singer Lee Jun-ho has celebrated the 10th anniversary of his appointment as an ambassador of World Vision, a humanitarian organization helping children, families, and their communities worldwide to overcome poverty and injustice, his agency JYP Entertainment announced Monday.

Lee Jun-ho first formed a relationship with World Vision in 2011 by taking the opportunity of his sponsorship of Ethiopian and Ghana children. He was then named a public relations ambassador in July 2012, the following year. For the next 10 years, the artist has been visiting places in need of help and showing compassion to those in need.

World Vision also organized a surprise event last month with Lee Jun-ho and other supporters to mark his 10th anniversary as an ambassador. The artist said, “I was happy to share the past 10 years with World Vision,” adding, “It is a memory that I can share with confidence anywhere I go.”

“It was a 10-year journey that I could have with the help of so many people, and I will continue to do my best as an ambassador,” he said. 

“I yet have a vivid memory of my first time in Ethiopia,” the artist said to Felmeta, an Ethiopian-sponsored child whom he has been in touch with for 10 years. “Felmeta has been a great support to me. No matter what kind of dream Felmeta has, I cheer for that dream; I wish Felmeta can keep giving a challenge to that dream and be happier than anyone else.”
