SEOUL, July 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korean video game developer Pearl Abyss announced to establish an art center that specializes in game technology and design research on Monday.

It plans to invest 30 billion won in the first half of 2022 to build a five-story building with a total floor area of about 4,958 square meters and a land area of 1,652 square meters near Pyeongchon, Anyang city, Gyeonggi Province.

Pearl Abyss explained this upcoming art center is the largest within the Korean game industry.

The motion capture studio located in the art center is a 9m-high, spacious area with 150 motion capture cameras.

"By securing a high floor height and large space, various and efficient motion capture photos can be taken without space restrictions such as wire action, bulky objects or animals," Pearl Abyss said.

"The art center was designed to make more realistic and movie-like games," said Kim Jae-kwon, head of the art division. "This is a technology advancement base for Pearl Abyss to improve the level of completion and quality of new works such as Crimson Desert, DokeV, and Plan 8."

Pearl Abyss is also building a new building in Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town located in Gyeonggi Province with the goal of completing construction in the first half of next year.
